Great Pursuit: Deaf

Most of the approximately 70 million Deaf people around the world have never seen Jesus's name signed in their language. Often ignored and oppressed, the Deaf are some of the least evangelized people on earth and Lostness is growing every day. Over 90% of all Deaf people are born to hearing parents, most of them with no experience in deafness. Pray for these parents. Pray for them to be used by God and advance His kingdom. IMB missionaries use sign roots as the basis for translating 300 Bible stories into multiple sign languages. Pray these Bible stories have a huge impact among the unreached Deaf Peoples and many come to know Jesus. Sign Language contributes to the Deaf having a sense of community belonging, and identity. Face-to-face gatherings are the lifeblood in Deaf culture, because communication only happens visually. Pray for these gatherings to become a church planting movement among the Deaf. Most Deaf people around the world have not seen the good news and do not have access to Scripture in their sign language. Please pray for more IMB missionaries and national Deaf partners to join efforts to ensure ALL will encounter the gospel and have an opportunity to know the Savior. From the Great Commission until the Great Multitude, we will bring the gospel to every people group. This is our Great Pursuit.
